Thank you so much to all who have made such generous donations to me, in money and time via the catastrophic illness program.

As many of you know, United Healthcare did no more cover my stem cell transplant than Blue Shield.   They both used the same techniques of sending one denial letter after another, buying time before giving the ultimate reason which is our City chose only to make stem cell transplants available to people suffering from cancer.

Without you, without my parents, I could never have had access to this treatment.

Thanks to you, I am now regaining my strength, and feeling my body heal.  I have regained some reflexes, but must be patient as nerves heal at the rate of 1mm/day (just like hair) - it's only been 2 months and I am doing so much better already !

I cannot wait to get back to work and am doing everything possible to optimize my healing : eating super healthy, and doing what exercise I can without overtiring myself.

I'd like to give a special warm thanks to BALEAF ( Bay Area Law Enforcement Assistance Fund) :  Robin Matthews immediately offered to help me by making donations tax deductible, and regularly sent me lists of people who sent me money.   I feel so deeply grateful to BALEAF.

Thanks to your generosity, I was able to keep my job, and get the treatment I needed without worrying about losing my home.   I am active in a forum of people who have this same illness and can tell you others are not as lucky as I.

My next goal is to get back to work as soon as physically possible.

I can't wait.

Thank you, Alice
